Job Details:

* Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations
* In psychiatric settings, aid patients in reality orientation, participate in behavior modification plans and therapy, and provide informal support therapy to patients and families
* Provide verbal de-escalation of potentially aggressive patients and aid in the physical management of aggressive or out-of-control patients
* Monitor therapeutic milieu activities on assigned unit to ensure emotional and safety needs of patients are met
* Observe, collect, and document patient information while providing care and promptly report significant changes in patient condition to a registered nurse or physician
* Provide assistance to patients and families during admission, orientation to the facility experience, and discharge
* Provide care and treatments including measurement of vital signs, height and weight, specimen collection, skin preps, catheter care, capillary blood glucose checks, simple wound care, range of motion exercises, and postural drainage
* Provide direct personal care for routine activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with ambulation
* Provide indirect care including cleaning the work area, changing linens, restocking supplies, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, and transporting patients, supplies, and specimens
* Reinforce routine teaching given to patients by registered nurses or physicians and document patient understanding of instructions
* Distribute patient education materials at the request of patients and healthcare providers
* Fluency in verbal and written English required with basic computer skills
* Minimum 6 months of relevant nursing assistant experience required, which may include a nursing assistant course
* High School Diploma or GED required
* Must be listed as a Nursing Assistant I in the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry with no substantiated findings
* Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification required
