Opportunity:

Histotechnician - Lab

Job Details:

* Sunday through Thursday shift, 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM
* 1:1 patient ratio
* Minimum 2 years of experience required
* Grossing experience is a hard stop requirement
* Hospital experience is a hard stop requirement
* First-time travelers accepted only with strong experience and more than 10 years of experience
* California state license preferred; pending license accepted
* RTO restrictions: no more than 7 days
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* 40 orientation hours required
* Scrubs or business casual attire required
* Epic charting system experience preferred
* Required certifications: ASCP-HT, Associate's Degree in Science
* Perform histology including grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining including automated IHC, special stains, and some manual special stains
* Handle routine hospital anatomical pathology specimens
* Cytology skills required including ability to prepare thin prep, cell block, cytospin, and gynecological specimens
* Proficiency required in the following skills: additive fixatives, automated/manual microtome, automatic tissue processor, basic dye stains, calcified/decalcified tissue, carbohydrates and amyloid, H&E staining, IHC staining, immunohistochemistry, frozen sections, special stains, paraffin wax sections, precision microtomy, and cytoplasmic and nuclear stains
* Serve adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
* Interdisciplinary support includes phlebotomy and radiology
* May be expected to float between sister facilities nearby contracted facility
