Open Position: RN - PCU Stepdown

Opportunity:

RN - Trauma Stepdown

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Located on the 5th floor of the main building
* Unit consists of 25 beds with a patient ratio of 1:4 (1:5 maximum for stepdown)
* Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 6 RNs, and 3 techs
* No on-call requirement
* Floating requirement to stepdown service lines including Progressive Care Unit and Heart and Vascular Unit
* EMR system used is Meditech
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH
* Strong customer service skills required
* Trauma and orthopedic experience preferred
* Meditech experience preferred
* Care for patients requiring acute surgical intervention and post-op care including trauma, bariatric, vascular, orthopedic, neuro/spine, urological, and general surgery
* Manage patients with neurological diagnoses including CVA, TIA, TBI, altered mental status, meningitis, and new onset seizures
* Monitor and treat cardiac conditions including chest pain, CHF, unstable angina, suspected MI, acute cardiac dysrhythmias, and hypertensive urgency
* Care for patients with sepsis (hemodynamically stable), pulmonary embolus, GI bleed, and alcohol withdrawal
* Manage patients receiving IV drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, and other cardiac and supportive medications
* Monitor respiratory distress patients requiring Venti mask, BiPAP, or CPAP
* Perform vitals every 4 hours, telemetry monitoring, and patient assessments every 4 hours
* Must be a team player, adaptable to a changing environment, and possess strong communication skills

Facility:

This facility is a Level 2 trauma center where approximately 90% of inpatients are admitted through the emergency department. The unit supports a wide range of surgical and medical specialties including trauma, cardiac, neurological, and vascular services. The facility operates with an experienced and well-staffed team dedicated to providing high-quality care across multiple stepdown service lines.
