Opportunity:

PCU/Stepdown RN

Job Details:

* PCU/Stepdown unit with a 42-bed capacity serving adult and geriatric patient populations
* Weekend coverage required with schedule of every other weekend (Friday-Saturday for nights or Saturday-Sunday for days/evenings)
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
* Candidates may choose one holiday (either Thanksgiving or Christmas) but cannot have both
* Float may be required to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical floors if overstaffed
* Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby contracted facility
* Patient ratios of 4-5 patients per nurse
* At least 1 year of experience required
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Travel experience preferred
* Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Epic charting system experience required
* Scrub color: Any color for RN
* Must be able to manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips (hard stop requirement)
* Key skills required include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, chest tube management, cardiac drip titration, vasoactive drip titration, insulin drip titration, pacemaker management, PICC line management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and interpretation of dysrhythmias
* Common patient diagnoses include CHF, Afib RVR, chest pain/rule out MI, heart catheterization, and cardiac drip management
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
* 2 references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years, completed during compliance process and prior to start

This short-term acute care facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 629 total staffed beds. As a teaching hospital, the facility provides a dynamic and educational environment for healthcare professionals. The PCU/Stepdown unit utilizes Epic for charting and offers robust interdisciplinary support services to ensure comprehensive patient care.
