RN - PCU/Stepdown

Job Details:

* PCU/Stepdown RN position requiring at minimum 1 year of experience
* Weekend coverage required with schedule of every other weekend (Friday-Saturday for nights or Saturday-Sunday for days/evenings)
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, or New Year's Day
* Candidates may choose one holiday - either Thanksgiving or Christmas, but cannot have both
* Patient ratio experience of 4-5 patients required
* If overstaffed, travelers are first to float to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical floors; refusal to float may result in termination and/or forfeiture of guaranteed hours
* Cardiac drip titration and management experience is a hard stop requirement
* Must be proficient in Epic charting system (hard stop requirement)
* Scrub color: Any color for RNs
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Required skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, cardiac drip titration, vasoactive drip titration, insulin drip titration, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, IV insulin protocols, pacemaker management, PICC line management, post cardiac angiogram/cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, pre/post hemodialysis management, sheath removal, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
* Patients served include adults and geriatrics
* Common patient diagnoses include CHF, Afib RVR, chest pain/rule out MI, heart cath, cardiac drips, and traditional medical-surgical patients
* Special equipment includes cardiac monitoring and cardiac drip management
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* Charge nurse experience preferred
* 2 references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years

Facility:

This facility is a short-term acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center, also designated as a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, with 629 staffed beds. It is a teaching hospital offering comprehensive interdisciplinary support services including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more. The PCU/Stepdown unit consists of 42 beds and specializes in cardiac and complex medical-surgical patient care.
