Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg/Tele
Job Details:
* 12-hour day shifts starting at 7:00 AM
* 3 shifts per week schedule with no guaranteed block scheduling; schedules are posted 6 weeks in advance
* Every other weekend required, including both Saturday and Sunday
* Holiday rotation shared with core staff
* No on-call or standby requirements
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6 on nights; 1:5-6 with LPNs available; virtual admission and discharge nurses available to assist
* Primary care nursing model is frequently used - must be comfortable with this model
* Float to like units only; if floated to higher acuity unit, will serve as a helper and not carry a full patient load
* 48-bed unit across two buildings (Med Surg/Tele - Inpatient Surgical, 3rd floor)
* Common diagnoses include neuro cases (laminectomy, cervical fusion, LESI), belly surgery (ostomies, hernia repair), joint replacements (total hips/knees), fem pop bypass, dialysis catheter insertions, BKA/AKA, DM, sepsis, and urgent OR cases
* Must have total joint experience
* Experience required with PCA pumps, reversal drugs (Narcan), sepsis management, TPN/Lipids, and narcotic usage
* Must be able to titrate Heparin drips per protocol
* RNs are required to interpret their own telemetry strips; Draeger tele monitors used; tele monitor tech available
* RT manages CPAP (home unit), Airvo, and BiPap equipment
* Charting system: EPIC; EPIC experience required
* Scrub color: Black
* Minimum 1 year of surgical nursing experience required
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
* BSN not required
* 4 hours of billable computer modules required; completed Monday-Tuesday of the week prior to start and must be accessible by 7:00 AM the Friday before start date
* Cancellation policy: 3 shifts per 13-week or longer contract; 2 shifts per 12-week or shorter contract
Facility:
This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering a wide range of inpatient surgical and medical services. The unit is fast-paced with a high volume of surgical admissions, receiving 8-12 surgery admissions per day in addition to discharging patients. The facility supports a comprehensive care team including nurse aides, monitor techs, respiratory therapists, and virtual nursing support to assist with admissions and discharges.
