Opportunity:

RN - Behavioral Health/Psych

Job Details:

* Every other weekend schedule required
* No on-call responsibilities
* Minimum 15 months of experience in Psych/Behavioral Health capacity required
* EPIC EMR experience required
* First-time travelers accepted with minimum 12 months of Psych/Behavioral Health experience
* Recent/current inpatient experience highly preferred
* Experience with all age groups including adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients required
* Home unit is Geriatric
* Must be willing to float across all Des Moines campuses to like units
* Patient types include acute psychiatric patients with major mental health illness and chronic behaviors including violence, aggression, mania, and self-harm
* Patient ratios can be up to 1:4-6 depending on unit and shift
* Competency with restraint equipment required
* Scrub color requirement: Navy Blue solids
* Required to work 1-2 of the upcoming winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), CPI
* De-escalation certificate preferred (MOAB, MAB, CPI, or SAMA) - can be obtained during onboarding
* Iowa nursing license required - must be active or compact/multistate at time of submission
* All candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Facility:

This healthcare facility operates a behavioral health unit across multiple campuses, providing specialized psychiatric care to a diverse patient population. The unit is divided into Geriatric, Adolescent, and Adult settings with 12, 12, and 24 beds respectively. The facility utilizes EPIC as its electronic medical records system and maintains a strong focus on patient safety and staff competency in managing acute psychiatric and behavioral health conditions.
