Opportunity:
RN - Labor & Delivery
Job Details:
* 48-hour work week with overtime billable after 48 hours worked in a week
* Shift times: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (days) or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (nights)
* CAP only: will switch from days to nights the last 4 weeks
* Every other weekend rotation required, but may be variable based on need
* Schedule made in 6-week increments and released 2 weeks prior to start; block schedule cannot be guaranteed
* No mandatory on-call requirements
* Holiday expectations apply on a fair and equitable basis
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP, Intermediate FHM (AWHONN)
* EPIC EMR experience required
* Minimum 2 years of experience required with previous travel experience; 5+ years preferred
* First-time travelers considered upon review
* High acuity labor and delivery experience required including labor management and delivery of high-risk OB patients
* Must be able to triage OB patients, circulate in OR, perform cervical checks, and read/interpret fetal monitoring strips
* Expected to serve as a second set of hands to receive and recover normal newborns as needed
* Patient population includes hypertension, magnesium administration, C-sections, preterm labor, vaginal deliveries, epidurals, inductions, antepartum, PROM, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage
* Up to 300 deliveries per month with a 33% C-section rate
* Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 active labor, 1:2 non-active laboring, 1:2-3 antepartum dependent on acuity
* Equipment includes Alaris CareFusion IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Centricity/Qx fetal surveillance monitors, CAD Solaris epidural pumps, Panda Warmers, and Covidien SCDs
* Scrubs provided by the facility and must not be worn outside of the facility
* Free badge access parking available in designated areas
* May float to antepartum (within L&D) and postpartum (4th floor) occasionally, and additional assignments within scope and experience
Facility:
This facility features a robust Labor & Delivery unit with 34 beds, including 15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum beds, 4 OB ED beds, and 3 operating rooms, as well as an 18-bed postpartum unit. The unit is supported by a comprehensive care team including CNAs, scrub techs, a receptionist/HUC, charge nurses, phlebotomy services, resource RNs, break nurses, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and 24/7 laborist coverage with residents, fellows, and additional physicians and midwives on staff. The facility is equipped with modern technology and maintains high standards of patient care for a wide range of obstetric conditions and acuity levels.
