Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

* 12-hour shifts available, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM with self-scheduling (not always guaranteed)
* Every other weekend requirement
* Holiday rotation will align with permanent staff schedule, typically one major and one minor holiday required
* Patient ratio of 1:2, may be 1:1
* 20-bed ICU and CCU unit
* Scrub color: Navy
* Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred)
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* PALS and NIH certifications also required
* Must have at least 3 years of ICU experience
* Travel experience preferred
* Nurses are required to read telemetry strips using Phillips monitors (no monitor tech on unit)
* Nurse aides available one shift per day (5:00 PM to 5:30 PM) to assist with blood draws, EKGs, and other tech duties
* Float responsibilities to IMCU (stepdown) or Observation may be required; first to float on evening/weekend shifts
* 3-shift floor-specific orientation provided
* Experience with drips required: vasopressin, Levophed, norepinephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, propofol, fentanyl, and others
* Ventilator experience required
* Common diagnoses include neurosurgery cases (craniotomies, carotids, ventriculostomies, ICP monitoring), open heart, post-caths, impellas, and balloon pumps
* Travelers may manage impellas and balloon pumps if experience can be validated
* No CRRT or ECMO required
* General ICU experience preferred; candidates with neuro or cardiac-specific experience will also be considered
* Hospitalist and intensivist available on call after hours
* Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
* BSN not required
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or up to 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks

This acute care facility operates a combined ICU and CCU unit with 20 beds, providing high-acuity care for a wide range of critical patients including neurosurgical and cardiac cases. The facility offers robust support services including 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy, charge nurse coverage, and nurse aide assistance. The unit is well-equipped to handle complex critical care needs and fosters a collaborative environment with hospitalist and intensivist support available around the clock.
