PCU/Stepdown RN

Job Details:

* Stepdown or PCU nursing role requiring cardiac drip experience including the ability to titrate and manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (hard stop requirement)
* Weekend coverage required with schedule of every other weekend (Friday?Saturday for nights or Saturday?Sunday for days/evenings)
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, or New Year's Day (candidates may choose one of either Thanksgiving or Christmas, but not both)
* Float may be required to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical floors if overstaffed
* Travelers may be expected to float between nearby sister facilities; refusal to float may result in termination of assignment and/or forfeiture of guaranteed hours
* Patient ratio experience of 4?5 patients required
* At least 1 year of experience required
* Charge experience preferred
* Patient age groups: Adults and Geriatrics
* Unit contains 42 beds
* Charting system: Epic (experience required; hard stop)
* Scrub color: Any color for RNs
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Required skills include but are not limited to: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, chest tube management, cardiac drip titration, vasoactive drip titration, insulin drip titration, interpretation of dysrhythmias and ABGs, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, pacemaker management, PICC line management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
* Common patient diagnoses include: CHF, Afib with RVR, chest pain/rule out MI, post heart cath, cardiac drips, and traditional medical-surgical patients
* Special equipment used: Cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
* Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
* All RTO and specific scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during submittal

Facility:

This is a short-term acute care facility and Level II Trauma Center with Level II Pediatric Trauma Center designation. The facility operates 629 staffed beds and functions as a teaching hospital. The unit offers robust interdisciplinary support and utilizes Epic as its charting system, with a focus on cardiac and stepdown patient care in a high-acuity environment.
