Opportunity:

RN - General Surgery

Job Details:

* Work on an 8th floor 44-bed General Surgery unit
* Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 unit secretary
* Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 unit secretary
* Patient ratios are 1:6 on day shift and 1:7 on night shift
* Must be able to manage 6-7 patients depending on shift
* 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
* Telemetry competency required
* Urology and bowel experience required as primary patient populations
* Perform and manage TPN, PCA, wound vacs, tube feeds, PEG tubes, Dobhoffs, NG tubes, colostomies, urostomies, and various drains including biliary, JP, nephrostomy, urinary catheters, and CBI
* Administer heparin drips and IV antibiotics
* Care for post-operative patients including cholecystectomies, appendectomies, podiatry, bowel resections, plastics, urology surgeries, nephrectomies, hysterectomies, mastectomies, oral/maxillary, thyroidectomies, and hernia repairs
* Work with telemetry monitors, PCA pumps, wound vacs, Baxter IV pumps, TPN, tube feeds, and urinary catheters
* Use Cerner EMR system
* May float to other med-surg areas as needed
* Dress code requires navy blue pants, navy blue or white scrub top and jacket, and white undershirt if needed; no sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies, coats, or jackets permitted
* Required certifications: BLS, telemetry
* Ideal candidate is positive, energetic, and a strong communicator with charge nurses, unit secretaries, providers, and CNA team
