RN - Bone Marrow Transplant
Job Details:
* Minimum 2 years of experience required
* First-time travelers accepted
* Patient ratio of 1:2
* Every other weekend required
* Call required
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Bone marrow transplant experience required; experience administering cells is not required
* Caring for adult and geriatric patient populations
* Patients primarily present with hematologic malignancies
* Perform cell and gene therapy administration
* Administer blood products and blood product management
* Administer chemotherapy and conditioning treatments
* Provide supportive care administration
* Perform triage
* Access and manage ports, central lines, PICC lines, and implanted lines
* Administer IV push chemotherapy, oral chemotherapy, and cytotoxic therapy
* Manage and dispose of cytotoxic spills
* Monitor and recognize side effects of chemotherapy treatments
* Administer antibiotics, antiemetics, antifungals, antivirals, and antitumor medications
* Manage infusion pumps and intravenous hydration
* Perform phlebotomy and central line blood draws
* Apply neutropenic and isolation precautions and appropriate PPE
* Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
* Manage sepsis and anaphylaxis response
* Provide patient and family education and support
* Required certifications: BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC)
* OCN certification preferred
* Active Michigan (MI) license required at time of submission; compact licenses are not accepted
* Two manager or supervisor references required; charge nurse references are not accepted
* All certifications must be obtained prior to start date
* Modules completed onsite during orientation; no pre-hire modules required
Facility:
This facility is a large academic health system offering a comprehensive range of specialized services and interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. The unit maintains a daily census of approximately 14 patients and provides a highly specialized environment focused on oncology and hematologic malignancy care with access to cutting-edge cell and gene therapies.
