Opportunity:
Radiation Oncology Therapist
Job Details:
* Work shifts between 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday
* 40 hours per week, 13-week contract
* No on-call required
* Fast-paced environment treating 70-95 patients per day on three treatment machines
* Simulate and administer radiation treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and directed by the Radiation Physicist and Dosimetrist
* Interpret prescriptions and treatment plans
* Complete patient identification processes per department procedure
* Maintain audio and visual surveillance of patients during treatment
* Consistently and accurately position patients for treatment
* Image patients as directed by the Radiation Oncologist
* Observe patients for side effects of radiation, behavioral changes, or unusual reactions and report to appropriate staff
* Use digital camera to document treatment position and tattoos or field borders on patient's skin
* Safely transfer patients from stretcher or wheelchair using proper body mechanics and transfer techniques
* Perform simple RadCalc calculations for emergency treatments
* Construct quality immobilization devices that promote reproducible patient positioning
* Accurately tattoo patients as appropriate and practice safe needle handling
* Participate in daily chart rounds to coordinate patient care
* Complete Aria chart checks per department policy
* Complete weekly block room cleaning and HEPA filter checks with appropriate documentation
* Accurately fabricate custom blocks and coordinate simulation with clinic to support continuity of care
* Minimum of one (1) year of Radiation Therapy experience required
* Experience with Varian TrueBeam or Edge and Aria required
* Basic operations knowledge of Linear Accelerators including Varian TrueBeam, Trilogy, Acuity, and GE Lightspeed CT preferred
* Experience with SBRT, SRS, and Breathhold Visual Management preferred
* Skills required include block cutting, calculating radiation dose, CBCT/kV/mV imaging, dose distribution computation, radiation safety, and tumor localization
* Required certifications: ARRT National Radiology License, Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) State Licensure, Basic Life Support (BLS)
* Successful completion of a Radiation Therapy program required
