Job Details:

* 3x12 day shift schedule
* Guaranteed 60 hours per 2-week period
* Weekends required with variable number of weekend shifts per contract
* Floating required - travelers should be prepared to float down to tele units should census require it
* Standard patient ratio is 2:1, with potential to increase to 4:1 when boarders are present
* Care for medically complex, critically ill patients including respiratory failure, cardiac arrest with TTM, multisystem organ failure, various shock states, CVA post tPA, ARDS, DKA, and ETOH withdrawal
* Frequently performed procedures include bedside central and arterial line placements, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, para and thoracentesis, and code blue response
* Required skills include arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management, central line care, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, management of dysrhythmias, and CVA/acute stroke management
* Special equipment includes Zoll intravascular cooling catheter for TTM, Tortoise proning system, Phillips monitors, Drager ventilators, and Zoll defibrillators and transport monitors
* Charting system: Epic (experience required)
* Scrub color: Any (no reddish orange permitted)
* Parking: Facility paid
* Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of experience
* Trauma Level II experience required
* Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and 2 hours of stroke-specific education each year
* 2 professional references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
* Local candidates within 50-mile radius accepted
* 24 orientation hours included

Facility:

This is a Level II Trauma Center with a total of 571 staffed beds across both campuses. The facility operates a high-acuity, fast-paced Medical Intensive Care Unit with a daily census of 25 patients and 28 rooms. The unit is supported by a comprehensive interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, unit secretary, and one CNA per shift.
