Job Details:
* 3x12 or 4x12 day shifts available
* Guaranteed 60 hours per 2-week period
* Weekend shifts required with variable number of weekend shifts per contract
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* Float to telemetry units may be required based on census needs
* Standard patient ratio is 2:1; may increase to 4:1 with boarders grouped together
* Care for medically complex, critically ill adult and geriatric patients including respiratory failure, cardiac arrest with TTM, multisystem organ failure, various shock states, CVA post tPA, ARDS, DKA, and ETOH withdrawal
* Frequently occurring procedures include bedside central and arterial line placements, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and code blue response
* Special equipment includes Zoll intravascular cooling catheter for TTM, Tortoise proning system, Phillips monitors, Drager ventilators, and Zoll defibrillators and transport monitors
* Charting system: Epic (experience required)
* Scrub color: Any (no reddish-orange permitted)
* Parking: Facility paid
* 1 CNA per shift available to assist
* Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
* Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of experience
* Trauma Level II experience required
* Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and 2 hours of stroke-specific education per year
* Required skills include arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, central line care, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, blood product administration, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, and interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias
* 24 orientation hours provided
* 2 professional references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years
Facility:
This Level II Trauma Center operates across two campuses with a combined total of 571 staffed beds, providing high-acuity, fast-paced critical care services. The Medical Intensive Care Unit features 28 rooms and a daily census of approximately 25 patients, supported by a robust interdisciplinary team. The facility utilizes advanced technology and specialized equipment to support complex patient care needs across a wide range of critical diagnoses.
