Opportunity:
Echo Sonographer
Job Details:
* 4-day, 10-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
* Full-time position
* No weekend requirement
* No on-call requirement
* High volume hospital - must be able to perform 9 studies per shift
* Perform diagnostic echocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients
* Perform technically proficient 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams
* Coordinate activities with interrelated hospital departments including scheduling exams, transporting patients, and ensuring accurate billing information
* Assist cardiologist during exam dictations by preparing and measuring M-modes and providing pertinent diagnostic information
* Respond to patient needs during exams and report changes in patient condition to physician or nurse in charge
* Maintain quality control of equipment operation and quality of examinations performed
* Log patients and exams and maintain patient records in the department
* Participate in Performance Improvement activities at departmental and hospital-wide levels
* High school diploma or equivalent required; two-year allied health education program preferred
* Two years of active echocardiogram experience preferred
* A.R.D.M.S./CCI registered or registry eligible, or comparable national accreditation required
* State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License required
* BLS certification issued through American Heart Association required
* Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to work at a rapid pace under stressful conditions
* Must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with professionals from a variety of disciplines
* Manual dexterity to perform echocardiograms required
