WNTR BLOCK 1ST TIMERS - LEVEL III NICU RN

Job Details:

* Block schedules required
* Weekends required - 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period with variable, self-scheduling
* No on-call required
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* Expected patient ratios of 1:2-4
* Position may float to PRN Pediatrics, PICU, and Pediatric ED
* Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby contracted facility
* 2+ years of NICU experience required; Level III experience preferred as this is a Level IV unit
* Minimum 1 year of experience required
* Charting system experience required; Epic charting system used
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP
* Navy scrubs required for all RNs
* Free parking available in any unrestricted space; bike racks available
* Primary patient population: Neonates
* Daily census of approximately 35 patients across 43 beds
* Common patient diagnoses include prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, surgical subspecialties (excluding cardiac), and HIE
* Advanced skills required include but are not limited to: administration of blood and blood products, arterial line management, Bubble CPAP, central line blood draw and care, high frequency ventilation, ICP monitoring, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, IV vasopressors, management of chest tubes, neonatal dosage calculations, therapeutic hypothermia, tracheostomy care, UAC/UVC management, and ventilator management
* Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
* Open to contracts longer than 13 weeks if desired by candidate
* 48-hour shifts are not approved

Facility:

This is a Children's Hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 181 total staff beds. The facility provides comprehensive neonatal and pediatric care, operating a Level IV NICU with a dedicated team supporting complex patient diagnoses across multiple pediatric specialties. The unit offers interdisciplinary support including interpretation services and maintains a self-scheduling model to support staff flexibility.
