WNTR BLOCK 1ST TIMERS - LEVEL III NICU RN

Job Details:

* Block schedules required
* Weekend shifts required - 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period with variable, self-scheduling
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* No on-call required
* Expected patient ratios of 1:2-4
* Position may float to PRN Pediatrics, PICU, and Pediatric ED
* Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby contracted facility
* 2+ years of NICU experience required; Level III experience preferred as this is a Level IV unit
* Open to contracts longer than 13 weeks if desired
* 48-hour shifts approved
* Charting system experience required - Epic
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP
* Compact license must be in hand at submission
* Scrub color: Navy for all RNs
* Free parking available in any unrestricted space; bike racks available
* Unit daily census of 35 with 43 beds
* Patient age group: Neonates
* Patient diagnoses include prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, surgical cases across all subspecialties except cardiac, and HIE
* Required advanced skills include: administration of blood and blood products, anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, APGAR scoring, arterial line management, assist with lumbar puncture, blood glucose monitoring, breastfeeding support and handling of breast milk, Bubble CPAP, central line blood draw, central line and implanted line care, colostomy and ileostomy management, developmental care, feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), Gastroschisis and Omphalocele, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), high frequency ventilation, hyperbilirubinemia, ICP monitoring, insulin administration, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, isolation precautions and PPE, IV vasopressors, Level 1 nursery, management of chest tubes, meconium aspiration, Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, neonatal dosage calculations, neonatal sepsis, care of neonates under 34 weeks and 29-34 weeks, NICU II, NICU III, NICU IV, Nitric Oxide (INo), oscillators, oxygen delivery systems, patient and family teaching, phlebotomy, phototherapy, placement and management of oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes, post abdominal surgery, respiratory distress syndrome, seizure disorders, sepsis work-up, starting and maintaining IVs, steroids, suctioning (ETT, NT), surfactants, telemetry and on-unit monitoring, therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket), thermoregulation, tracheostomy care and management, UAC, UVC, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), and Ventricular Peritoneal (VP) Shunts

Facility:

This is a Children's Hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with a total of 181 staff beds. The facility operates a Level IV NICU unit with 43 beds and a daily census of approximately 35 patients, providing comprehensive neonatal care across a wide range of diagnoses and surgical subspecialties. The facility offers interdisciplinary support including interpretation services and maintains a self-scheduling model for its nursing staff.
