Opportunity:

WNTR BLOCK 1ST TIMERS - LEVEL III NICU RN

Job Details:

* Block schedules required
* Weekends required - 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period, variable with self-scheduling
* Self-scheduling format
* 48-hour shifts approved
* Expected patient ratios of 1:2-4
* No on-call required
* May float to PRN Pediatrics, PICU, and Pediatric ED
* May be expected to float between sister facilities nearby contracted facility
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required; Level III experience preferred as this is a Level IV unit
* Open to contracts longer than 13 weeks
* Epic charting system experience required
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP
* Scrub color: Navy for RNs
* Parking is free in any unrestricted space
* Patient population: Neonates
* Daily census of 35 with 43 beds
* Patient diagnoses include prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, surgical cases (all subspecialties except cardiac), and HIE
* Required advanced skills include but are not limited to: administration of blood and blood products, arterial line management, Bubble CPAP, central line blood draw, central line care, high frequency ventilation, ICP monitoring, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, IV vasopressors, management of chest tubes, neonatal dosage calculations, nitric oxide, oscillators, therapeutic hypothermia, tracheostomy care, UAC/UVC management, and ventilator management
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* 2 professional references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years

Facility:

This is a Children's Hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 181 total staff beds. The facility operates a Level IV NICU with 43 beds and a daily census of approximately 35 patients. The unit provides comprehensive neonatal care across all surgical subspecialties except cardiac, and offers interpretation services as part of its interdisciplinary support.
