Opportunity:
Medical Lab Scientist - ER LAB / FSED
Job Details:
* Saturday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and Sunday 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (24 hours per weekend)
* 7 on/7 off schedule with 10-hour shifts per day
* Every other weekend requirement
* 13-week assignment with potential to extend to 26 weeks
* Day shift and night shift positions available (1 MLS per shift)
* No on-call requirements, however additional hours available during 7-day off week if desired
* Perform daily maintenance, quality control, calibrations on analyzers, and patient testing including waived and non-waived tests
* Specimen processing including ordering tests, centrifuging specimens, preparing send-outs for transport, stocking lab supplies, and routine cleaning of lab surfaces
* Work with equipment including Siemens Dimension EXL, Sysmex 1000, Roche Clineteck, Werfen Top 300, Quidel Triage, Siemens ePOC, Abbott iSTAT, Veritor FLU, Quidel SOFIA, and Aerospray stainer
* Utilize EPIC EMR system
* Willing to perform clerical duties as assigned by Nursing and Lab Director in support of FSED operations
* Must work and communicate professionally with both lab and non-lab individuals, including interfacing with clinical ED staff
* Full license required - associates degree not accepted
* Minimum 2 years of experience working in a hospital laboratory environment as an MLT or MLS required
* Experience with EPIC preferred
* Experience with analyzers listed above preferred
* Required certifications: MLS or MLT certification through ASCP (MLS, CLS, MT Medical Technologist) or equivalent
* Dress code: Pewter-colored scrubs required; lab coat will be provided
* Must adhere to standard lab safety protocols as required by CLIA and CAP
Facility:
This facility operates a freestanding emergency department (FSED) with 10 treatment rooms, staffed by a team of 8 lab technologists. The laboratory supports a full-service emergency department environment and operates under CLIA and CAP regulatory standards. The facility utilizes EPIC as its electronic medical records system and maintains a comprehensive suite of modern laboratory analyzers to support both waived and non-waived testing needs.
