Opportunity:
RN - Float Pool
Job Details:
* Day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Float pool position requiring flexibility to float within scope of practice across PCU, Tele, MedSurg, and ER Holding units
* May also float to a secondary hospital location approximately 2.5 miles away as needed, with advance notice provided
* Most shifts will be spent in ED Holding area, with additional floating to inpatient PCU area
* Weekend rotation every other weekend, with occasional back-to-back weekends
* No on-call responsibilities
* Schedule made in 3-week increments, provided 7-10 days prior to start; no self-scheduling or guaranteed patterned schedule
* Patient ratios: PCU 1:4, MedSurg 1:5-6
* Care for patients with diagnoses including neuro, trauma, surgical, medical, respiratory compromise, sepsis, renal failure, bleeding disorders, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, ortho, strokes, STEMIs, pacemakers, and post-cardiac procedures
* Required skills: IV medication titration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, BiPAP management, ostomy care, general drains, trachs, chest tubes, and lumbar drains; TR Bands experience preferred
* EMR: EPIC experience required
* IV Pump: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Pyxis
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted with strong PCU/Tele and previous float pool experience
* Traveler Telemetry Competency required
* Orientation includes 1 day of general hospital orientation and 1 day of unit orientation on PCU unit
* Scrub color: any solid color, professional attire required
* Free parking available in parking garage
* Must complete whiteboards, hourly rounding documentation, and provide bedside report
* Two-nurse verification required when wasting medications including narcotics and benzodiazepines
* Document pain assessment before and after administering pain medication (30 minutes for IV, 1 hour for oral)
* Saline flushes are considered medication and must not be left at the bedside or in scrub pockets
* Medications must not be left in unlocked carts
* Breaks are required
