Opportunity:

RN - ICU Float Pool

Job Details:

* Float within the facility to all ICUs, PCU/CCUs, and ED Holding
* Patient ratio of 1:2 in ICU and 1:4 in PCU/ACC/CCU with ER Holding ratio based on patient level of care
* Care for neuro, trauma, medical, and surgical patients including sepsis, pneumonia, DKA, multi-system failure, spinal injuries, pre/post cath patients, CHF, COPD, strokes, TBI, and various surgical patients
* CVICU patients include post-op CABG, esophagectomy, TAVR, AAA repair, thoracic and vascular surgeries, and post-arrest patients
* Not expected to care for fresh CABG/TAVR, EVDs, post TPA, or any devices such as ECMO, IABP, Impella, or hypothermia protocol
* Schedule is typically made 3 weeks at a time and released 7-10 days in advance
* Every other weekend required with the possibility of back-to-back weekends on rare occasions
* No self-scheduling and no guarantee of a patterned schedule
* Manager approval required for time off exceeding 5 days
* May float to a nearby hospital approximately 2.5 miles away as needed with advance notice
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Epic experience required for charting
* Traveler Telemetry Competency must be completed and passed prior to start
* Required skills include cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent and BiPAP management, invasive line management, ostomy, general drains, traches, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and IV medication titration
* Charge nurse, hospitalist, RT, and intensivist support available 24/7
* Cardiologist on call 24/7 for CVICU, CCU, and Cardiac Short Stay
* 1 year minimum ICU experience required; first-time travelers with strong ICU and previous float pool experience will be considered
* Scrubs: Any color, professional attire required
* Must complete and document hourly rounding, fill out whiteboards, and give bedside report
* Two-nurse verification required when wasting medications including narcotics and benzodiazepines
* Must document pain assessment before and after administering pain medication (30 minutes for IV, 1 hour for oral)
