Job Details:
* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Weekends required based on unit needs and requests
* No on-call or standby requirement
* No block scheduling guaranteed - cannot work 6 shifts in a row
* First to float to all sites within the Treasure Valley area including Meridian, Nampa, and Boise within primary skill set (L&D/Mother Baby) or as a sitter - all sites within 15 minutes of each other
* Floating is for full shifts, not partial, with notice given prior to shift start
* Up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment may be cancelled
* Charting system: EPIC (Compliance and EPIC Curio assignments must be completed before start)
* EFM System: Centricity
* Minimum 3 years of L&D experience required with at least 1 year of mother baby experience preferred
* Charge nurse experience preferred but not required
* Must have experience attending deliveries and completing 1 hour of newborn care, triage, circulating C-sections, and providing postpartum couplet care
* Must have experience with magnesium
* Must be able to titrate drips including Pitocin Protocol, Magnesium Protocol, and occasional insulin drips
* Must be able to stabilize newborns, perform physical assessments and cares within the first 2 hours
* Common patient diagnoses include 32-week gestation and greater, hypertension requiring magnesium, BACs, TOLACs, gestational diabetes, and some antepartum patients
* Unit consists of 14 L&D beds where patients remain in the same room, 2 OR suites for C-sections, and 4 triage beds
* Follow AWHONN Staffing Standards: 1:1 labor unless pairing 2 cervical ripening patients, postpartum 1:3 couplet care, triage 1:3 with resource nurse utilized at 4 patients
* RNs will circulate and recover C-section patients
* OB hospitalist and Neonatal NP available 24/7; anesthesia in house 24/7
* Hospital-issued scrubs required - must be changed into and out of at the beginning and end of each shift
* No fingernail lacquer policy - acrylic or gel nails are not permitted in the department
* Travel duos will need 2 separate cars as providers may be at different sites or float during shifts
* 4 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided including orientation to C-section, labor, and postpartum
* BSN not required
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), STABLE
Facility:
This acute care facility features a specialized Labor and Delivery unit with 14 beds, 2 OR suites dedicated to C-sections, and 4 triage beds. The unit operates with an embedded NICU within 7 of the L&D rooms and maintains 24/7 coverage from an OB hospitalist, Neonatal NP, and anesthesia. The organization follows AWHONN Staffing Standards and serves a diverse patient population across multiple sites within the Treasure Valley area.
