Job Details:

* Sunday through Thursday shift schedule from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM
* 1:1 patient ratios
* Minimum 2 years of experience required
* Grossing experience is a hard requirement - hospital experience is required
* First-time travelers accepted only with strong experience and more than 10 years of experience
* California state license preferred; pending license accepted
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* RTO restricted to no more than 7 days
* Scrubs or business casual dress code required
* Charting system experience preferred; Epic charting system used
* Required certifications: ASCP-HT, Associate's Degree in Science
* Perform histology procedures including grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining (automated IHC, special stains, and some manual special stains)
* Handle routine hospital anatomical pathology specimens
* Perform cytology skills including thin prep, cell block, cytospin, and gynecological specimens
* Proficiency required with a wide range of histology skills including additive fixatives, automated/manual microtome, automatic tissue processor, basic dye stains, calcified/decalcified tissue, H&E staining, IHC staining, immunohistochemistry, special stains, frozen sections, and precision microtomy
* Experience with a variety of specimen types including core biopsies, shave biopsies, incisional biopsies, excision specimens, curettings, GI specimens, and skin specimens
* Interdisciplinary support available including phlebotomy and radiology
* Patient age groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
* 40-hour orientation provided
* May be expected to float between nearby sister facilities; refusal to float may result in termination or forfeiture of guaranteed hours
