Job Details:
* 36 or 48 hour shift options available
* Weekend coverage required with a minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
* Patient ratios of 4:1 for days, nights, and weekends (1:4 if ESI 3, 1:5 if ESI 4-5)
* Float required to MS/ICU with 4 patients for ICU or IMC as needed
* 2 years of experience preferred; first-time travelers accepted
* Previous charge experience required
* Community hospital experience required
* Trauma Level II experience preferred
* Epic charting system experience preferred
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
* Additional certifications preferred: CPI, NIHSS, TNCC, NRP/ENPC, STABLE
* Must be proficient in arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care/management, and continuous IV sedation
* Experience with IV vasopressors, interpretation of dysrhythmias and ABGs, procedural sedation administration, phlebotomy, and triage required
* Must be comfortable caring for all patient age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
* Patient diagnoses include respiratory, GI/GU, cardiac, neuro, minor trauma, OB/GYN, and integumentary conditions, as well as initial medical care for strokes, STEMIs, major trauma, and pediatrics prior to transfer
* Special procedures include chest tubes, thoracentesis, paracentesis, RSI, splinting, procedural sedation, restraints, vacuum D&C, central lines, and ultrasound-guided IVs
* Special equipment includes Rapid Infuser, EZ IO, Lifepack 15 and 20, GE Monitors, GE EKG, and Glidescope
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams
* May be required to float to like units within scope based on facility needs
* 50-mile local radius applies; local candidates not accepted
Facility:
This community hospital emergency department operates with 18 rooms and 20 beds, seeing approximately 80 patient visits per day. The facility is both a STEMI-certified and stroke-certified facility with a Level II Trauma Center. The department provides care across all age groups from neonates through geriatrics and maintains a NICU capable of caring for infants under 11 weeks. Comprehensive interdisciplinary support services are available on-site including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
