Sterile Processing Technician

Job Details:

* Rotating weekends required, every 4th weekend
* On-call and holiday coverage required
* 1 year of experience required
* Required certifications: CRCST or CBSPD, CBSPD, IAHCSMM/HSPA, BLS
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds and push/pull carts
* Must be able to tolerate prolonged standing
* Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills including phone etiquette
* Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and be computer literate
* Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
* Knowledge and understanding of ANSI/AAMI, AORN, and Title 22 standards required
* Tracking system knowledge preferred; charting system experience with any system accepted
* Skills required include: acute hospital OR, cleaning equipment such as crash carts, IV pumps and PCA pumps, high-level disinfection, use of washers and sterilizers, case cart management, proper selection of wrapping materials, sterilization wrapping procedures, sets and trays assembly, and equipment documentation
* Specialty area experience required includes: Ear/Nose/Throat, General, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Plastics, and Urology
* Must be knowledgeable in biological indicators, chemical indicators, steam sterilization testing and monitoring, and immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS)
* Strict dress code enforced: no facial hair, no acrylic nails, no unnatural hair colors, all tattoos must be covered, no visible body piercings other than earrings, no facial or nose rings, and earrings may not extend beyond the earlobe or be hoop earrings
