Opportunity:
RN - Bone Marrow Transplant
Job Details:
* Minimum 2 years of experience required
* First-time travelers accepted
* Patient ratio of 1:2
* Every other weekend required
* Call required
* Charge experience preferred
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Caring for adult and geriatric patient populations
* Daily census of 14 patients
* Perform cell and gene therapy administration
* Administer blood products and blood draws
* Administer chemotherapy and conditioning treatments
* Provide supportive care administration
* Perform triage
* Manage and access ports, PICC lines, and central lines
* Administer IV push chemotherapy and monitor chemotherapy treatment
* Manage cytotoxic therapy and cytotoxic spill disposal
* Administer stem cell therapies and bone marrow
* Recognize and manage chemotherapy side effects including nausea, vomiting, extravasation injury, and anaphylaxis
* Apply neutropenic precautions and isolation protocols/PPE
* Manage infusion pumps and intravenous hydration
* Perform phlebotomy and starting/maintaining IVs
* Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
* Provide patient and family education and support
* Bone marrow transplant experience required; not required to have experience administering cells
* Required certifications: BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC)
* OCN certification preferred
* Active Michigan (MI) license required at time of submission; compact licenses not accepted
* Two manager or supervisor references required; charge nurse references not accepted

This facility is a well-established academic medical center offering a comprehensive range of specialized oncology and hematology services. The unit supports a multidisciplinary care team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams. The facility treats patients with hematologic malignancies and is equipped to provide advanced therapies including cell and gene therapy, bone marrow transplant, and chemotherapy services.
