Opportunity:

RN - MICU

Job Details:

* 3x12 or 4x12 day shift schedule available
* Guaranteed 60 hours per 2-week period
* Weekend shifts required with variable number of weekend shifts per contract
* Standard patient ratio of 2:1, with potential increase to 4:1 when boarding patients awaiting transfer
* Float to telemetry units may be required based on census needs
* Care for medically complex, critically ill patients including respiratory failure, cardiac arrest with TTM, multisystem organ failure, various shock states, CVA post TPA, ARDS, DKA, and ETOH withdrawal
* Perform and assist with high acuity procedures including bedside central and arterial line placements, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and code blue response
* Manage special equipment including Zoll intravascular cooling catheter for TTM, Tortoise proning system, Phillips monitors, Drager ventilators, and Zoll defibrillators and transport monitors
* Chart using Epic system - experience required
* Scrub color: any color permitted except reddish-orange
* Parking is facility paid
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams
* 1 CNA per shift available to assist
* Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
* Unit census up to 25 patients across 28 rooms
* At least 1 year of RN experience required with Trauma Level II experience required
* First-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 2 years of experience
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and 2 hours of stroke-specific education per year
* 24 orientation hours provided
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* 2 professional references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years

The Medical Intensive Care Unit is a high acuity, fast-paced environment equipped with advanced medical technology and supported by a comprehensive interdisciplinary team. The facility offers robust specialty support services and is committed to delivering high-quality critical care to a complex patient population.
