Opportunity:

Lab - Transfusion Services/Blood Bank Supervisor

Job Details:

* 5-day work week with 8-hour shifts
* Must be flexible with schedule as shifts may require arriving before 8:00 AM, staying after 5:00 PM, and working some weekends as needed for this 24/7 service
* Supervise day-to-day operations of Transfusion Services/Blood Bank section including high, moderate, and waived complexity test performance
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards including CLIA, TJC, CAP, and AABB
* Develop, implement, and maintain procedural manuals for all tests performed in assigned section(s)
* Implement and maintain section-specific Quality Control Program and all applicable Quality Control and Functional Verification records
* Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained
* Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all equipment in assigned section(s)
* Train new technologists and technicians in assigned section procedures and policies
* Conduct competency assessments and maintain appropriate documentation on all technical personnel
* Coordinate and attend meetings to discuss changes regarding policies, equipment, procedures, and staffing
* Utilize thorough working knowledge of Laboratory Information System and applications
* Process patient specimens including collection, handling, and distribution
* Extensive experience in regulatory blood bank compliance required
* Preferred advanced SBB (specialty in blood bank) certification
* Experience in EPIC Beaker, Soft Bank, and Orthovision highly recommended
* Strong professional social skills required due to high level of interaction
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent education in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from a regionally accredited college/university required
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist required
* Minimum 5 years of full-time primary experience in Transfusion Services/Blood Bank required
* Certification for MLS from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS required
