RN - PCU

Job Details:

* 13-week assignment with available start dates every Monday
* Navy blue scrubs required
* 50-mile radius restriction - no local travelers
* High-acuity, heavily cardiac-focused PCU unit
* Strong cardiac background required
* EPIC experience required
* Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5
* Expect high patient acuity, frequent admissions/discharges, and significant procedural volume
* Must be able to independently interpret cardiac rhythms and pass a Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt with no remediation opportunities
* Dysrhythmia Exam is paper-based, proctored, and requires the use of calipers - no tech assistance permitted
* Experience with cardiac drips required including insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and nitroglycerin
* No ventilator patients
* Heart transplant experience preferred (training available if needed)
* LVAD experience preferred (training available if needed)
* Must have a rating of "4" on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist
* Must have chest tube experience
* Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience required
* Experience with telemetry interpretation and successfully passing a telemetry exam required
* Common patient populations include heart failure, A-Fib, atrial flutter, SVT, VTach, VFib, fluid volume overload, chest pain, hypertension, heart transplant patients, congenital heart disease, and LVAD patients
* Common procedures include right and left heart catheterizations, TR band management, sheath removal/management, stent placement, valve replacement procedures, STEMI/NSTEMI care, pacemakers, ICDs, cardioversions, ablations, and groin site management
* Travelers may float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed
* Travelers will not float to the Cardiac Monitor Tech role

This facility operates high-acuity, cardiac-focused Progressive Care Units that specialize in the treatment and management of complex cardiac conditions. The facility provides advanced cardiac care including heart transplants, LVAD support, and a wide range of interventional cardiac procedures. The organization is committed to maintaining high standards of cardiac care and requires its nursing staff to demonstrate strong clinical competency in telemetry interpretation and cardiac procedures.
