Opportunity:

RN - Progressive Care Unit

Job Details:

* 48-hour guarantee per week
* Patient ratio of 4:1
* 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
* Self-scheduling available within reason to allow balanced staffing
* Schedule finalized 2 weeks in advance with block scheduling available for night shift
* Travel RNs float first on a rotating basis with oldest float date floating first
* Heavy cardiac patient population including CV surgery patients transitioning from ICU
* Perform Q6H head-to-toe assessments with full documentation each time
* Administer and titrate drips including Dopamine, Dobutrex, Nitro, Heparin, Cardizem, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Cardene, Labetalol, Insulin, and Precedex
* Care for complex medical, cardiac, and surgical patients requiring intermediate care including sepsis, stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, AKI, CKD, DKA, CVA, respiratory failure, GI bleed, pneumonia, and post-operative cardiac and surgical patients
* Advanced skills required: IV insertion, chest tube management, DHT insertion and management, tracheostomy experience, CVC management, EKG, Foley management, and early patient mobility
* Procedures performed on unit: Foley placement, IV insertion, wound vac management, DKA management, EKGs, DHT/NG placement, patient ambulation, and ADLs
* Equipment used: Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, Phillips MP2, Pyxis, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds, iMobile devices, and MobiLab
* Documentation system: Meditech
* Cardiac/telemetry experience and PCU and/or critical care experience required
* Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
* Required dress code: Navy scrubs

The unit features 29 beds and is supported by unit secretaries and 2-3 PCTs per shift.
