Open Position: RN - PCU Float Pool

Opportunity:

Simplifi Clinical Interviewing - Will be Mainly ED-HOLD FLOATING

Job Details:

* Primarily support ED Holding unit, with additional float coverage across GSH 1 Daily/2 River North and South/Float Pool Teams
* Work 12-hour shifts starting at 7:00 AM or 7:00 PM; must be on unit by 0700 or 1900
* Cannot clock in before 0653 or 1853
* Schedule provided 3 weeks at a time, received approximately 10 days prior to schedule start
* Weekends will vary depending on unit needs
* No holiday requests, self-scheduling, or on-call
* Time off requests approved up to 5 days; additional days require email to nurse manager
* Must call staffing office 30-45 minutes prior to each shift to receive unit assignment
* May float for partial shifts within scope of practice
* ED Holding is a fast-paced unit with mixed diagnoses including ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg level patients
* Patient ratios: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, Med-Surg 1:5; ICU/PCU nurses floated to MS will have a 1:5 ratio
* Must be flexible and resourceful when working with isolation patients and non-ambulatory patients
* ACLS Transport RN will transport patients throughout entire hospital including inpatient units, ED, CT, MRI, Nuclear Med, PACU, and Cath Lab; after 2300, will assist ED Holds area with breaks and medication administration
* Required certifications vary by unit: ICU and PCU require ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS; Med-Surg requires BLS and NIHSS
* ICU skills required: cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent management, invasive line management, ostomy, general drains, and trachs
* PCU skills required: cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, lumbar drains, trachs, and IV medication titration (Amiodarone, Cardizem, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine, non-DKA insulin, heparin, and sometimes Cardene)
* Med-Surg skills required: IVs, PCAs, chest tubes, drains, ostomies, and IV antibiotics
* All clinicians must demonstrate strong communication and patient teaching/education skills
* EMR: EPIC; IV Pump: Alaris; Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
* Minimum experience requirements: ICU requires 2 years of ICU experience; PCU requires 2 years of PCU experience; Med-Surg requires 2 years in an acute care setting
* First-time travelers are accepted
* Traveler Telemetry Competency required during orientation
