PCU/Stepdown RN

Job Details:

* 12-hour shifts available on days, evenings, or nights
* Every other weekend required (Friday?Saturday for nights or Saturday?Sunday for days/evenings)
* No on-call required
* Block schedules not required
* 48-hour weeks approved
* Expected patient ratios of 1:3?4
* May float to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical floors if overstaffed
* May be expected to float between nearby sister facilities
* Cardiac drip experience required must be able to manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips (hard stop requirement)
* Minimum 1 year of PCU or stepdown experience required
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Epic charting experience required
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Scrub color: Any color for RNs
* No parking fee
* Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
* Common patient diagnoses include CHF, Afib with RVR, chest pain/rule-out MI, heart cath, cardiac drips, and traditional medical-surgical patients
* Required skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care, chest tube management, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and more
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and others
* Candidates may choose one holiday either Thanksgiving or Christmas but cannot have both off

This facility is a short-term acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center, as well as a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, with a total of 629 staffed beds. As a teaching hospital, it provides a dynamic and educational environment for healthcare professionals. The PCU/Stepdown unit contains 42 beds and is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, and more.
