Opportunity:

PCU/Stepdown RN

Job Details:

* Work in a Progressive Care/Stepdown unit serving adult and geriatric patients
* Patient ratios of 1:3-4
* Every other weekend required (Friday-Saturday for nights or Saturday-Sunday for days/evenings)
* No on-call required
* Block schedules not required
* 48-hour shifts approved
* Float required to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical floors when overstaffed
* May be expected to float between sister facilities nearby contracted facility
* Cardiac drip experience required - must be able to manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips (hard stop requirement)
* Common patient diagnoses include CHF, AFib RVR, chest pain/rule out MI, heart cath, cardiac drips, and traditional medical-surgical patients
* Charting system: Epic (experience required)
* Scrub color: Any color for RNs
* No parking fee
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Required skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, chest tubes, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, pacemaker management, PCA, PICC line management, post cardiac angiogram/cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, telemetry monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, titration of insulin drips, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and more
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
* Special equipment: Cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips
* Minimum 1 year of experience required
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* Candidates may choose one holiday (Thanksgiving or Christmas) but cannot have both

This is a short-term acute care facility and Level II Trauma Center with Level II Pediatric Trauma Center designation. With 629 total staffed beds and a 42-bed Progressive Care unit, this teaching hospital provides comprehensive care across a wide range of specialties. The facility utilizes Epic for charting and offers robust interdisciplinary support services to ensure high-quality patient care.
