Opportunity:

RN - PCU

Job Details:

* Weekend rotation every other weekend required
* Up to 7 days of time off may be approved with holiday requests requiring manager approval
* Holiday expectations vary based on unit needs
* Patient ratio of 1:3-4 (days and nights) with CNA support at 1:6 ratio
* Intermediate/PCU level of care experience required - minimum 1 year; if only Med/Surg experience with some PCU, minimum 2 years required
* First-time travelers accepted
* Care for cardiac and medical patients including post-op general surgery, trauma, s/p cardiac cath, s/p ablation, 24-hour post-op TAVR, STEMI, NSTEMI, CHF, AFIB with RVR, sepsis, COPD, ETOH withdrawal, IVDA, pneumonia, and respiratory failure requiring BiPAP or high-flow O2
* Experience required with trached patients on vents including administering 100% FiO2 via suction support, trach care, and trach suctioning
* Stroke patient care including Q2H neuro checks required
* Post stable craniotomy experience preferred but not required if comfortable with patient type and confident in neuro checks
* Required skills include chest tubes, wound vacs/VAC dressing changes, BiPAP, non-titrating vasoactive or antiarrhythmic drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, temporary pacemakers, TR bands, post femoral sheath care, insulin drips, and general drain/ostomy care
* IV starts required; US guided IVs and PICC/Midline placement handled by IV/VAT team
* May float to ED, ICU, or CCU if there is an intermediate assignment in those departments
* CCU patient types include CHF, STEMI, NSTEMI, and similar conditions
* Charting system: Cerner
* Equipment: Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, GE Monitors
* Scrub color: Any, must be professional
* Free parking available in designated areas
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Facility:

This facility is a Level II Trauma Center serving as the closest trauma center within a 50-mile radius, equipped with air flight capabilities. The facility features 411 beds with a 12-bed PCU unit and offers around-the-clock support including a 24/7 ICU-trained resource nurse, respiratory therapy, hospitalist coverage, and trauma surgery monitoring. Additional support services include charge nurses, phlebotomy, and PT/OT services available Monday through Friday.
