Job Details:

* Minimum 2 years of experience required; travel experience required
* First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
* Floating required to like units - must be flexible
* Every other weekend required
* Patient ratio is 1:4 (may be 1:5 at midnight); 3:1 for high acuity and special procedures
* Self-scheduling
* Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
* Unit census of 32 with 36 beds
* Must have surgical telemetry experience including open heart surgery and vascular care
* Experience with groin/radial band management and IV skills required
* 2-3 years of telemetry experience required; VAD and TAVR experience preferred
* Provide care for patients with myocardial infarction, primary arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and stroke with cardiac involvement
* Care for pre/post open-heart surgery and vascular surgery patients
* Care for pre/post cath lab patients with or without interventions
* Specialized structural heart support including VAD and TAVR
* Perform breathing treatments, chest tube set-up and care, CPAP/BiPAP, trach care, and sternal precautions
* Administer blood and blood products
* Perform cardioversion/defibrillation and epicardial pacer management
* Manage LVAD and open heart post-op care within 24-28 hours
* Perform telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
* Manage stable cardiac drips including Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Antiarrhythmics, Beta Blockers, Cardizem, Hydralazine, Ketamine, Lasix, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerin, and Levophed
* Epic experience is a hard stop requirement
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day

This facility is part of a large healthcare system that operates multiple locations across the region. The cardiac progressive care unit is a specialized 36-bed unit focused on high-acuity cardiac and surgical telemetry patients. The unit is supported by a comprehensive interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries.
