Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Every other weekend required
* Must be willing to work some holidays
* No on-call or standby requirements
* No floating requirements within the unit
* Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4
* Treats an average of 66 patients per day in the emergency department
* Common diagnoses include stroke, STEMI, sepsis, chest pain, psychosis, and behavioral health cases with rare pediatric cases (1%) that are treated and transferred
* Common drips include insulin, cardiac drips, sedation, and critical drips
* Travelers may be utilized as charge nurse, particularly on night shifts - notify manager if willing
* Opportunity to triage patients if experience is applicable
* RNs are responsible for drawing labs, with phlebotomy available to assist when needed
* RNs responsible for monitoring telemetry alongside monitor techs using Phillips monitors
* RNs perform breathing treatments and some ABGs
* Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift with an experienced ED RN
* Scrub color required: Royal Blue
* Charting system: EPIC
* Drivers license required
* Minimum one year of experience required; prefer existing traveler who has completed 1-2 assignments
* Behavioral health experience required
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS

Facility:

This acute care emergency department operates as a STEMI Receiving and Comprehensive Stroke Center, equipped with 17 beds that can flex up to 22 with hallway beds when staffing allows. The facility features a dedicated triage area, four designated psychiatric patient rooms, and 24/7 in-house security stationed within the emergency department. The unit is supported by ED technicians who assist with EKGs, blood glucose monitoring, patient transport, and other clinical duties, creating a collaborative team environment where all staff are treated with respect.
