Opportunity:

RN - Progressive Care Unit

Job Details:

* 48-hour guarantee accepted
* Patient ratio of 4:1
* 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
* Self-scheduling available within reason to allow balanced staffing
* Schedule finalized 2 weeks in advance with ability to request days off prior to schedule closing
* Block scheduling can be accommodated for night shift
* Travel RNs float first on a rotating basis with oldest float date floating first
* Dayshift includes unit secretary and 2-3 PCTs depending on census; nightshift includes 2-3 PCTs depending on census
* Heavy cardiac patient population including CV surgery patients transitioning from ICU
* Perform Q6H head-to-toe assessments with full documentation for each
* Administer and titrate PCU drips including Dopamine, Dobutrex, Nitro, Heparin, Cardizem, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Cardene, Labetalol, Insulin, and Precedex
* Care for complex medical, cardiac, and surgical patients requiring intermediate care including sepsis, stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, post-cardiac catheterization, AKI, CKD, DKA, CVA, respiratory failure, GI bleed, pneumonia, post-operative CABG, aortic valve surgery, thoracic surgery, and neurosurgery patients
* Advanced skills required: IV insertion, chest tube management, DHT insertion and management, tracheostomy experience, CVC management, EKG, Foley management, and early patient mobility
* Procedures performed on unit include Foley placement, IV insertion, wound vac management, DKA management, EKGs, DHT/NG placement, patient ambulation, and ADLs
* Equipment used includes Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, Phillips MP2, Pyxis, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds, iMobile devices, and MobiLab
* Documentation system: Meditech
* Cardiac/telemetry experience and PCU and/or critical care experience required
* Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
* Required uniform: Navy scrubs

This progressive care unit operates within a 29-bed unit focused on delivering highly individualized care to complex medical, cardiac, and surgical patients. The facility utilizes advanced technology including iMobile devices for encrypted communication with hospitalists, nurses, PCTs, and ancillary departments, as well as Patient Keeper for mobile chart access and MobiLab for specimen collection. The unit is recognized for its positive atmosphere, high patient satisfaction ratings, and strong quality metrics, with experienced RNs on both day and night shifts including staff with ICU backgrounds.
