RN - CV ICU

Job Details:

* Work in a 10-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit (CV3 ICU) specializing in a specific population of cardiac patients
* Patient ratio of 1:2 with a free charge nurse running on the unit
* Average daily census of 7 patients
* Patient population includes adults to geriatrics
* Care for patients with LVADs, balloon pumps, swan catheters, temporary pacemakers, femoral and venous sheaths, arterial lines, TR bands, and patients on CRRT
* Titrate cardiac drips, vasoactive medications, and sedation for intubated patients
* Monitor and care for post-AAA repair patients requiring extended flat positioning with close observation
* Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with intensivist and care team at 10:00 AM Monday through Friday
* Intensivist present in the unit Monday through Friday
* Effective communication with nurses, physicians, and care team is essential
* Work every other weekend unless otherwise specified
* 6 weekend shifts per contract
* No on-call requirements
* Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract
* RTO blackout dates include Spring Break (April 4th?12th)
* If one or two major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work all of them; if three major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work two
* Floating within facility and scope of practice as needed
* 24 orientation hours required
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
* Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Epic and Pyxis experience preferred; SBAR communication framework used
* Scrub color: Navy Blue
* Required skills include but are not limited to: arterial line management, CVVHD/CRRT, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), ventricular assist device (LVAD/RVAD), pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, ventilator management, sheath removal, and interpretation of dysrhythmias
* Georgia or compact nursing license required at time of submission

This facility is a well-established health system featuring a specialized cardiovascular intensive care unit equipped to handle complex cardiac cases. The unit is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. The facility treats a wide range of cardiovascular diagnoses including cardiogenic shock, STEMI/NSTEMI, aortic dissection, decompensated heart failure, abdominal aortic aneurysm, and acute lower limb ischemia, among others.
