Opportunity:

RN - Medsurg Ortho

Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
* Every other weekend requirement with 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
* First to float policy - may float to telemetry unit (1:4 ratio) or between med-surg floors
* Patient ratio of 1:5 on unit
* 17-bed Medsurg Ortho unit
* Common diagnoses include hips, knees, shoulders, and spine - no drips
* Must be able to read and interpret telemetry; portable tele box used as needed with monitor tech available - dysrhythmia exam required
* 1 shift of orientation to unit provided
* 1 nurse aide available for 8 hours during day shift
* Clinical supervisor acts as charge nurse with no patient assignment and provides break relief
* Hospitalist on-site 24/7; Respiratory Therapy available 24/7; Pharmacy available 24/7
* No IV team on site; no ventilator patients
* EMR system: Cerner
* Scrub color: Navy
* Required certifications: BLS
* Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Medsurg Ortho specialty required
* Previous travel experience required
* BSN not required
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or up to 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks

This acute care facility operates as a Level 2 Trauma Center providing comprehensive medical and surgical services to the community. The Medsurg Ortho unit specializes in post-operative and orthopedic patient care, supported by around-the-clock hospitalist coverage, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy services. The facility utilizes Cerner as its electronic medical records system and maintains a strong commitment to quality patient care across multiple med-surg units.
