Opportunity:
Pre/Post - PACU
Job Details:
* Primary shift hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with occasional shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
* Start times vary between 6:00 AM and 8:30 AM depending on area assigned for the day; flexible scheduling required
* Nurses scheduled for PACU are expected to stay and finish the day as shift relief is not available in outpatient surgery
* Monday through Friday schedule; no weekends, no holidays, and no on-call requirements
* May float to Main PACU if needed
* Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby the contracted facility
* Minimum 1 year of experience required
* California state license required; pending license accepted; compact license must be in hand at submission
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
* Epic charting system experience preferred
* Scrubs or business casual attire required
* Treat patient age groups including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
* Perform Pre-op assessments, Pre-op education, Pre-op medications, Phase I PACU, and Phase II Recovery
* Provide care for all outpatient surgeries including general, orthopedic, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, plastics, podiatry, gynecology, vascular, and urology procedures
* Administer and monitor conscious sedation and procedural sedation
* Manage nerve blocks, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents
* Monitor patients using RASS (Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale)
* Implement Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol and Hyperglycemia/Hypoglycemia protocols when needed
* Manage pediatric patients as required
* Obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG and interpret and communicate lab values
* Maintain isolation precautions and proper PPE use
* Up to 7 days of pre-approved time off; RTO requests must be submitted upfront during submittal
* 2 references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years
Facility:
This acute care facility provides comprehensive outpatient surgical services in a structured and supportive environment. The unit operates Monday through Friday and handles a wide range of outpatient procedures across multiple specialties, including general surgery, orthopedics, urology, and more. The facility offers interpretation services as interdisciplinary support and maintains a daily census of approximately 10 patients across 4 procedure rooms.
