Open Position: RN - Acute Med Surg Acute Care

Opportunity:

RN - Medical/Surgical (Acute Care)

Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Shift change from 6:45 AM to 7:15 AM
* Every other weekend required
* Rotate with permanent staff
* Patient ratio of 1:6 for both days and nights - must be comfortable with this ratio
* 14-bed unit in an acute care setting
* 2 years of experience required in specialty with 1 travel assignment required
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS; ACLS preferred
* Charting system: MEDITECH
* Care for patients with conditions including diabetes, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis, post-surgical overflow, amputations, debridements, wound care, DVTs, ETOH, and psychiatric cases
* Administer medications including Lasix, Bumex, and Heparin
* Monitored unit on a different floor; nurses are not required to read strips
* CNA support available at approximately 1:12 ratio; CNAs may be pulled for 1:1 and sitter assignments
* CPAP used; BiPAP used on nights only
* Must have experience with high acuity, high turnover, and fast-paced environments at larger organizations; no Critical Access Hospital (CAH) experience accepted
* Primary Care Nursing model
* Strict attendance policy in place
* Dress code: Caribbean Blue top and bottom, White top with Caribbean Blue bottom, or all white top and bottom
* Nails must be polished only - no artificial, gel, or Shellac nails permitted due to increased CLABSI rates
* No bags allowed at the nurses station; personal lock for locker permitted
* Strict 75-mile radius rule applies
* Cancellation policy: 12 hours every 2 weeks

This is a large acute care facility with a 483-bed main campus providing comprehensive medical services across a wide range of specialties. The medical-surgical unit consists of 14 beds and cares for a diverse patient population with high-acuity conditions. The facility operates with a Primary Care Nursing model and upholds a strong commitment to patient safety, satisfaction, and quality of care.
