Job Details:

* Work 12-hour shifts with available shift times including days (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM), mids (varied start times), and nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
* Every other weekend rotation required
* No on-call responsibilities
* 1 holiday per contract expected
* Up to 7 days of requested time off can be approved
* Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required
* First-time travelers accepted
* Patient ratio of 1:4, with pods set up for 8 patients between 3 nurses
* Care for a diverse patient population including geriatric, abdominal pain, chest pain, stroke, psychiatric, respiratory, and approximately 15% pediatric patients
* Required skills include TNK, conscious sedation, chest tubes, and central lines
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI or MOAB, and NIHSS
* EMR system: EPIC experience required
* Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing
* No floating required
* Orientation consists of 1 week including NEO, EPIC training, skills check off, general site check off, position-specific check off, and 2-3 precepted shifts
* MHS Tele Test required prior to arrival
* Scrub color: Any color, professional attire

Facility:

This 123-bed community hospital operates as a Level 3 Trauma Center, offering a smaller, community-focused care environment. The emergency department features 21 beds, 8 hallway beds, 5 fast track beds, and 4-12 outpatient overflow beds serving as a secondary fast track. The facility provides robust support staffing including 24/7 charge nurses, receptionist/HUC coverage, respiratory therapy, and hospitalist services. Additional support includes phlebotomy-certified ER techs, a vascular access team available Monday through Friday, and telemetry monitoring at both bedside and the nurse's station.
