Job Details:

* Full-time position requiring 3 shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays
* Work in a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit with 9 beds, 1 OBED bed, 4 NICU beds, and 1 OR suite
* Patient ratios: 1:1 for active labors, inductions, and C-sections; couplet care 1:3; newborns 1:1 until stable; NICU 1:3 intermediate care with minimum 2 NICU nurses required in unit at all times
* No unit secretaries or technicians available on the unit
* Must have labor and delivery experience including ability to labor and recover the mother as well as receive and transition the newborn including assessment
* Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other OB emergencies preferred
* Fetal monitoring education and experience with inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil) required
* Procedures performed on unit include C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, and vacuum or forceps assisted deliveries
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring training
* Equipment used includes CPN Central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologist, bili-blankets, and PCA pumps
* Documentation systems: Meditech and CPN
* Daily rounding and SAFETY rounding required on all patients
* Floating policy: if not needed on unit, staff may be expected to float anywhere within the facility; some staff are cross-trained to float between LDRP and NICU
* Pink and/or brown scrubs required per infant security policy for the unit

Facility:

This facility is a Joint Commission certified medical center with designations as a Stroke Center, Level II Trauma Center, and Level II NICU. The Women's Services unit is staffed by a highly experienced team, including several nurses with approximately 30 years of experience who serve as strong resources and preceptors. The unit functions as a cohesive team and offers an excellent opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care.
