Opportunity:

Medical Surgical / Registered Nurse

Job Details:

* 4x12 night shift schedule (48-hour weeks)
* Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical experience required; 3+ years preferred
* Level I Trauma experience required
* Large hospital experience required
* Prior travel assignment required
* Patient ratio of 1:6 utilizing a team nursing model (splitting caseload between 2 RNs, LPN, and Med Nurse)
* Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
* 45-bed unit with primary surgical oncology patients, medical oncology overflow, and medical-surgical overflow
* Daily census of 30-35 patients
* Procedures include wound care, drain management, ostomy care, Foley catheter care, and central line management (PICC, PAC, and midlines)
* PCA pump management required
* Chemotherapy administration for ONS-certified nurses only
* IV start skills required
* Limited phlebotomy coverage at night
* On-call required as needed
* Weekend shifts required as needed
* Block scheduling not available; weekend block may be considered during interview
* Must be willing to work 2 of 3 end-of-year holidays if all three fall within the assignment, or at least 1 if only 2 holidays fall within the assignment
* RNs may be floated between like units or campuses within a 20-mile radius
* Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility
* Active RN license in the state or a compact RN license complying with NLC guidelines required
* EPIC experience preferred
* ADN accepted; BSN not required for this position
* Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
* Interdisciplinary support available including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Lift Teams, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Transportation

The medical-surgical oncology unit operates with a team nursing model and cares for a diverse patient population including surgical oncology, medical oncology, and general medical-surgical patients.
