RN - ER/ED Float

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour shifts from 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM
* Every other weekend requirement
* Every other holiday requirement
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Float position within Zone 3 (based around Denver City Center) - no home base facility
* Zone 3 facilities include: OrthoColorado Hospital (Lakewood, CO), Longmont United Hospital (Longmont, CO), St. Anthony Hospital (Lakewood, CO), St. Anthony North Hospital (Westminster, CO), and 84th Ave Emergency Room (Westminster, CO) - all within a 60-mile radius of Denver City Center
* Schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance; may be scheduled at a single facility for the week or assigned a facility 1-2 hours before shift start via Just-In-Time (JIT) call
* Traveler is responsible for obtaining housing that makes floating throughout the full 60-mile zone feasible
* Must be present in state for week of orientation even if first-day modules are completed remotely
* 2-3 days of unit/department-specific orientation
* Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
* Average patient volume of 40-168 patients per day, varying by location
* Trauma level varies across facilities; majority are STEMI and Stroke receiving facilities
* Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
* Common drips include standard ER medications
* RN must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently (no monitor techs available)
* Will be trained to perform Point-of-Care lab testing
* Respiratory therapy available 24/7
* Techs available to support unit secretary work and assist nurses on the floor and in triage
* Charting system: EPIC
* Must wear navy blue scrubs
* Traveler cannot miss more than 3 shifts in a 13-week contract
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NIHSS, TNCC

This float pool position covers multiple acute care emergency department facilities within a 60-mile zone centered around Denver. The facilities vary in size and specialty, with the majority serving as STEMI and Stroke receiving centers. Each location features respiratory therapy available around the clock, tech support staff, and comprehensive emergency services to treat a wide range of patient conditions and acuity levels.
