Opportunity:

Laboratory Assistant - Certified

Job Details:

* Full-time position with varied shifts
* Perform all aspects of venipuncture including heel-stick and finger-stick procedures
* Utilize proper aseptic technique when performing patient care procedures
* Select appropriate specimen type through knowledge, request, or research for particular test requests
* Handle all aspects of specimen collection, labeling, and processing
* Perform correct procedures for all laboratory paperwork including patient requisitions, reference laboratory requisitions, documentation of special circumstances, and review of billing demographics
* Complete daily check-off lists, temperature monitoring, monthly records, and annual reports
* Assist the Laboratory Scientist in the operation of the Clinical Laboratory
* Perform certain non-technical aspects of patient testing under supervision, including specimen processing and laboratory informatics activities
* Maintain a well-stocked, clean, and orderly laboratory environment
* CPT-1 or CPT-2 certification required
* American Heart Association BLS certification required
* High school diploma required
* One year of experience as a Phlebotomist preferred
* Excellent communication skills required
* Must be thorough and detail oriented with strong time management skills
