RN - Telemetry/PCU/Step-Down

Job Details:

* Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
* Travel experience required prior to submission
* Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics
* Patient ratio: 1:5-6 on days and nights; 1:6 on weekends; 32-bed unit
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* Scrub color: Navy Blue
* Charting systems: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
* Must have prior experience managing the following continuous IV drips:
- Cardiac drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin
- Diuretics: Bumex, Lasix
- Anticoagulants: Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin
- Insulin drips
* Must have basic arrhythmia knowledge, hemodynamic monitoring, and experience with post-PCI patient care
* Required skills include: cardiac telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, titration of insulin drips, central line care/management, blood product administration, PICC line management, heparin protocols, pre/post cardiac catheterization care, TR Band management, and use of rapid response/code teams
* Additional skills: BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), accessing/managing ports, feeding tube care and management, phlebotomy, peripheral line and IV care
* Telemetry competency exam required
* Special equipment: Respiratory therapy available 24/7, high flow, BiPAP
* Typical patient diagnoses include: Overflow IMCU, arrhythmia management, cardioversion, cardiac CHF, chest pain, renal, pulmonary (COPD, emphysema, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT, cardiac arrhythmias (stable A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia), surgical cases (cholecystectomy, appendectomies, chest tubes, biliary drains), occasional vascular patients, post cardiac cath, TR bands, DKA, and occasional ortho or CVA patient overflow
* Floating required to like units within the facility and scope of practice as needed
* Weekend schedule: Typically every other weekend; permanent staff are scheduled first and travelers fill in the gaps (approximately 6 weekend shifts per contract)
* Call requirements: Call is rare; response time is 2 hours
* Holiday expectations: If 1-2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work 2 of them
* Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
* Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
* No RTO or schedule requests can be made post-offer or on-site
* No RTO can be requested during orientation week (Monday through Sunday)
* Orientation: 36 hours; schedule is bi-weekly
* Georgia or Compact nursing license required at time of submission
* Interdisciplinary support available: Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Transportation
