Opportunity:

Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit RN

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Schedule options: 3x12 or 4x12 shifts on weekdays with some weekend coverage
* Block scheduling considered for weekend blocks only (Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, Monday)
* 13-week contract with possibility of extension
* Typical patient ratio of 1:4 with flexibility to 1:5 in emergencies
* Patients are primarily cardiac, including cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures, as well as med/surg and medical patients
* Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
* Unit capacity of 36 beds with a daily census of 34
* Minimum 1.5-2 years of experience required; 1 year MS/Tele and 2 years Stepdown experience preferred
* Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
* Required certifications: BCLS, ACLS (must be through American Heart Association)
* Required skills: IV start, telemetry, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care and management, heparin protocols, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management and titration, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, phlebotomy, pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care, and wound care
* Charting system: Cerner experience required
* Scrubs not provided; burgundy and/or white scrubs required
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
* Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
* WV or Compact License required
* Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
