Job Details:

* 4x12 variable shift schedule working either days or nights based on facility needs at time of start date
* Caregivers are not typically asked to rotate between night and day shifts, with occasional exceptions for urgent staffing needs
* Guaranteed 72 hours per 2-week period with the possibility of being called off for 1 twelve-hour shift per 2-week period
* Assignment duration is traveler's choice of 13 or 26 weeks
* Patient ratio of 1:20
* Minimum of 1 year of experience required; previous travel experience required
* Long-term care experience required
* No on-call required
* Clinician may be required to float within scope to meet facility needs
* Block schedule not available
* Candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility
* Alaska CNA license may be pending but candidate must have already submitted the Alaska CNA license application prior to applying
* If AK CNA license is pending, candidate must submit a valid CNA license in another state and verification of completion of a formal CNA training program
* Required certification: BLS
* Scrub color: Any
* Charting system: ECS; charting system experience required
* Parking is free
* Facility will arrange shuttle transportation to and from Anchorage at the start and end of the contract; local shuttle available in Seward for local transportation
* All caregivers are required to obtain the Alaska Food Worker Certification, which will be completed during on-site orientation at no prior action needed before start date; one-time $10 fee applies
* Special equipment used includes Skylifts, Hoyers, and general medical equipment such as vital sign machines
* Required skills include: abnormal/normal vital sign parameters, assist with ambulation and feeding, turning and repositioning, complete bed bath, donning and removing PPE, foot care, glucometer and glucose point of care testing, isolation precautions, mouth care, obtaining blood pressure including orthostatic, respirations, pulse, and temperature, oxygen tanks, perineal care, pressure injury prevention, pulse oximetry, reporting changes in patient condition, safe patient transfers, shower assistance, skilled nursing, skin care, and incontinence care
* Patient diagnoses include geriatrics, Alzheimer's, dementia, TBI, and psychological behaviors
* RTO of no more than 1 week will be considered for a 13-week contract and no more than 2 weeks for a 26-week contract; all RTO must be submitted with initial application
* Must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
* 2 references required covering 6 months within the last 3 years

This long-term care facility has a total of 40 staffed beds and specializes in caring for patients with geriatric conditions including Alzheimer's, dementia, traumatic brain injury, and psychological behaviors. The facility provides a supportive care environment with access to specialized equipment and interdisciplinary resources to meet the complex needs of its patient population.
